themes in Asher Luv

1. religion
2. art
3. family
4. identity
5. love
The theme i pick is religion because i think it plays a very big role in the book. in the book asher luv is having many problems with his life because his religion and his desires do not go well together. asher does not take his religion serious and this is a big deal among is people they see him as childish and selfish for expressing his feelings. through out the first five chapters religion has been brought up many times and the importance of it is very big. the theme religion is more than just an idea its the way his people live their lives and asher is stepping out of those boundaries.

asher is in his own world and because of that he does not care about anything else he is hurting his parents and bring shame to his people. i too live my life by my religion and sometime it restricts me of doing something but unlike asher i take it seriously. asher is still a little kid and does not understand the importance of religion or the name of his people but one day the truth will be clear. religion to most people is very important it is their    guide in life and for Jews it is very important to them. ahser still does not know who his people are and what his religion means to him all he cares about is his drawings and staying at where he is now.

the importance that is given to religion in this book is amazing. everyone lives their life doing what the rebbe tells them. Jews take their religion and love it with all their hearts but asher is blinded by his dreams and his young mind. he does not see the value of it yet.
